Drugs not properly disposed of may end up getting into the wrong hands or end up in our water system. You can safely dispose of unused or expired prescription and nonprescription (for example, over the counter) medicines by using the medicine drop box located in the lobby of the Albemarle Police Department Headquarters. Remember to remove all identifiable information from containers or packages before disposal.

Please do not place the following items in the drop box:

• Empty bottles
• Inhalers
• Liquids
• Syringes
• Needles
