Albemarle Police Department calls upon City residents to help keep our community beautiful by reporting any observed acts of deliberate littering.

Littering Laws

Laws against littering have been strengthened. First offenses entail a fine of $250 up to $1,000. Subsequent offenses expose violators to even larger fines and may entail court-ordered community service picking up roadside trash. Violators caught dumping trash in excess of 500 pounds may their vehicle seized and sold.
