The Subdivision Ordinance outlines the minimum and general design standards for the City of Albemarle. It includes:

• Guidelines and standards for all new street systems
• Subdivision plat requirements for both preliminary and final plats
• Our approval process for exempt, minor and major subdivisions
• Required improvements for new developments within City Limits

New developments within the City are subject to our subdivision ordinance, minimum lot size and setback requirements, floodplain regulation, and zoning and watershed ordinances.

How to Apply for a Subdivision

To submit a subdivision or recombination plat for review:

1. Please download, print, and complete the Application for Subdivision Review
2. Email your completed Application, along with a digital copy of the plat, to the Subdivision Administrator
3. Mylar and printed copies will be requested upon approval of the Application
