Albemarle’s City Council adopted the Historically Underutilized Business Program (HUB) on November 18, 2002. The City's HUB Program was established to guide the recruitment and selection of HUB Contractors in their participation in the City of Albemarle's procurement and contracting needs.
The HUB program goals include but is not limited to the following:
- Ensure proper diligent use of public funds
- Increase opportunity for minorities and women to participate in all aspects of the City of Albemarle’s contracting and purchasing activities
- Achieve a 10% verifiable participation goal in the “total value of work” for contracts or subcontracts awarded
