Public records and public information created and maintained by the City of Albemarle, North Carolina or its subdivisions are the property of the people  It is the policy of the City of Albemarle that the people may obtain copies of their public records and public information free or at minimal cost unless otherwise specifically provided by law. A reasonable service charge will be levied for public records requests that require extensive staff time for compilation.
