Wiiliam S. “Bill” Aldridge was first appointed to the Albemarle City Council in 2014 to complete the term of current Albemarle Mayor Ronnie Michael. He won election to continue serving the citizens of Albemarle in 2016 and then re-elected in 2020.
Bill was born and raised in Albemarle. He is the son of the late Sherrill S. Aldridge and Margaret B. Aldridge, who survives and is also a lifelong resident of Albemarle. He graduated from Albemarle High School in 1992. Bill then attended both Stanly Community College and Pfeiffer University earning a Criminal Justice degree in 1997. Bill is also a graduate of the North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement School and has also served as a Albemarle Police Officer reserve prior to joining city council.
Bill has been employed with the Hendrick Automotive Group based in Charlotte, N.C. for over 24 years, serving in various leadership and management roles. In 2018, Bill was promoted to his current position as Regional Training Director, where he oversees the coaching, training, and professional growth and development of company teammates throughout the North Carolina/Virginia region.
Bill is very active in the community. He has served in various organizations in Albemarle and Stanly County. He is also a past president of United Way of Stanly County, Bill also previously served on the Albemarle Board of Adjustments. Bill is also currently a board member with Hospice of Stanly and the Uwharrie. He is also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the National Rifle Association.
In his spare time, Bill enjoys running, vacationing, and traveling. Bill is excited about the progress currently happening in both Albemarle and Stanly County. He strongly encourages community involvement and engagement. Bill is always glad to assist residents and encourages anyone to reach out to him with questions, comments, or any suggestions.
