HAMMOND ELECTRIC MOTORS, INC.
WHEREAS, Hammond Electric Motors is important to the economy of the City of Albemarle, they have
been in operation for a total of 55 years; 20 of the most recent years under the ownership Steve and
Wayne Hoffman. They employ 16 highly skilled workers in the City of Albemarle. They operate in a
12,500 square foot facility remanufacturing and rebuilding electric motors, with warehousing, and
executive offices. They pay taxes to the City supporting the general fund, and using our utilities; and
WHEREAS; Hammond Electric Motors is an integrated part of the Albemarle industrial economy and is
a family owned business. They provide electric motors with related services meeting high standards to
industries in Albemarle and throughout the region to eliminate or minimize any disruption in their
customer’s production. This keeps their customers competitive. They are capable of repairing and
remanufacturing electric motors up to 1,500 hp.
WHEREAS; they have made many investments to make one the most technologically advanced shops in
North Carolina with processes that are environmentally sound; and
WHEREAS; Hammond Electric Motors is a full-service electric motor repair shop, it also has a complete
machine shop, a servo repair department, and a complete line of motors and controls in stock. It offers
field services such as motor alignments, motor testing, and variable frequency drive start ups; and
WHEREAS, they work with Stanly Community College and area high schools students demonstrating
jobs using advanced technology. This will help provide a labor force to keep successful, competitive, and
productive manufacturing industries in the Albemarle area for many years to come; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, the Mayor of the City of Albemarle, Proclaim that Hammond Electric Motors,
Inc. is an important remanufacturing company in the City of Albemarle and greatly contributes to the
well-being of the City.
